Letter: Take the survey and tell Air Canada how you feel

Stressing the importance of completing the City of Penticton's online survey

On Wednesday morning, my wife and I took some leaflets to the Penticton airport at 4:45 a.m.

Why? To catch those early morning travellers taking the 6 a.m. flight from Penticton to Vancouver. The leaflets stated that local government representatives are working hard to make the case to Air Canada that travellers in the South Okanagan need that early morning flight, one of the two flights Air Canada has scheduled to cancel as of May 1.

Most travellers were aware of the planned flight changes, however, many did not know about the City of Penticton’s on-line survey: www.shapeyourcitypenticton.ca/penticton-airport.

Travellers were thankful we were there to give them this important information. As one traveller said: “My son lives in New York. This 6 a.m. flight means I can take an 8 a.m. flight from Vancouver to New York, which is where I am going today. But if I can’t leave Penticton till 9:30 a.m., the connections to New York are not straightforward.”

Another traveller was on her way to Montreal. Again the connecting flight in Vancouver was direct, but not so if her departing flight from Penticton wasn’t until 9:30 a.m.

My wife and I stressed the importance of completing the city’s online survey. Most travellers took the leaflet and said they would complete the survey. My wife and I encourage you to do the same.
