We would like to express our gratitude to the community of Vanderhoof for six and a half fantastic years. From the first day we came and met the local doctors and nurses, we felt at home. Both of our girls were born here, and we are so grateful to have met so many wonderful friends.
Jeff knew early in medical school that he wanted to be a rural family doctor. He trained in over a dozen rural towns across Canada from B.C. to Newfoundland and found Vanderhoof to be the best. It is not well known that Vanderhoof is a model community for rural health care. Jeff enjoys everything from the clinic and ER, to stress testing and delivering babies. He’ll truly miss his patients. Vanderhoof has introduced him to ice hockey, chess, and fishing.
Winnie met Jeff in UBC medical/dental school, and they have lived and worked together in Prince George, Trail, and Lillooet.
Despite growing up in the cities of Montego Bay and Toronto, Winnie has enjoyed rural life and loves Vanderhoof. Vanderhoof has been such a welcoming town, that it has made the last six and a half years go by way too fast.
For Winnie, practicing in the Vanderhoof dental office had been such a rewarding experience thanks to the best coworkers and patients anyone could ask for.
We are moving to the Lower Mainland to be closer to our families. We will be leaving excellent jobs for average ones. In our time here, we hope to have reciprocated a fraction of the positive impact that you have had on our lives. We would like to thank our wonderful friends, colleagues, and patients.
Yours truly,
Winnie Chan and Jeff Obayashi
