To the editor;
Prior to November 11, the Royal Canadian Legion have their Poppy Campaign. This program raises funds which in turn are donated back in to the community and to assist our Veterans.
This is the time when we remember those who have given the ultimate sacrifice in times of conflict.
We now are looking at assisting those who are returning from Afghanistan.
Royal Canadian Legion Cloverdale has been and continues to play a major role in supporting the community. Last year the branch raised $62.000, and donated to local seniors, veterans, youth groups, and towards hospital equipment.
The Ladies Auxiliary donated planters for Hawthorn Square, and made donations to hospitals and nursing homes. All of these donations are made possible by the devoted volunteers who work at meat draws, special events to raise funds.
We continue to assist veterans and ex-service members with the Independence program, and spousal benefits, with an excellent Service Officer available to help with concerns in regards to benefits.
All of these programs are done without government funding.
On behalf of the Royal Canadian Legion Cloverdale Branch 6-, we want to thank every individual who played a part in the Remembrance Day ceremonies. It is encouraging to see so many young families with small children in attendance.
Thank you to all our Poppy
canvassers, special thanks to the Seaforth Highlanders and Parent Support Group who raised over $10,000 toward our Poppy Campaign. Congratulations on a job well done.
We always welcome new members – you no longer have to be related to someone to join us.
Why not drop by the office and see Sandi our Secretary?
She will be more than happy to answer any questions you may have pertaining to membership.
Watch for our local advertisement in the Cloverdale Reporter (monthly).
