In reply to Mark Lawson from Chicago’s letter re: the Kootenay lake ferry which he enjoys as a tourist.
Suppose he lived on the East Shore and had a medical appointment in Nelson that had taken months to book (because it is with a specialist who makes rare trips to Nelson). Then both the Rogers Pass and the Creston Salmo close because of avalanches — the ferry is backed up and he cannot get to his appointment!
Mr.Lawson: the ferry is our lifeline.
On your next trip please rent a houseboat from the Kaslo Shipyard so that you can really enjoy more of the largest ice-free lake in Canada.
