Re: Overhead lines deserve council attention, Your View, Oak Bay News,
What, besides the price, is up with Oak Bay council paying $500,000 – that’s 32 per cent – over assessed value for 1538 Monterey Ave.?
The 2015 property assessment for that property was $786,000. In 2016 it was assessed at $1,162,000 – but Oak Bay taxpayers shelled out $1.7 million. Why?
Who was the real estate agent? Isn’t there a real estate agent on council and couldn’t he have helped negotiate a better deal?
And why have taxpayers purchased the property way over assessed value?
Inquiring taxpayers would love to know. After all, it’s our community and our money.
