Re: Train whistles still blasting in Ridge.
The never-ending drama of the blasting trains, passing the residential area of Maple Ridge is still going on.
An article from last May said Maple Ridge council will quiet train whistles.
In it, Coun. Gordy Robson said: “Train noise has been a long-time issue for people living close to the tracks. We’ve been trying to get that dealt with for 20 years. We’re going through the process, and it will take eight or nine months. Maybe we’ll get it in time for Christmas.”
That was almost a year ago. Christmas was four months ago. And we are still not able to sit on the patio or balcony with family or friends, having a conversation or a quiet drink.
Isn’t it about time, with summer weather approaching, inviting everybody to open the windows and sit outside, to get some peace and quality of life?
Is it so difficult for civil servants to do something about it? They have dealt with this problem for more than 20 years?
Take Pitt Meadows and New Westminster as an example, and perhaps you can learn something.
