Re: Coverage of Soldiers of Odin march wasn’t critical enough of this group, Letters, Aug. 14.
A reality check to virtue signallers and social justice warriors filling the letters page or supporting the pro Discontent City narrative and the call to disarm the Soldiers of Odin and other protesters.
The blight downtown is not a city with “humble attempts at gardening” void of “unpleasant interactions” at every tented intersection. It’s a filthy slum built on private land, milking our good nature, our rights, our judiciary, and the business/tourist base suffering massively from increased crime. In every way it is illegal and its existence a testament to how pathetically off-the-rails we are collectively.
It’s ludicrous to see venom spat at protesters, who from every walk of life, want this off our streets. I suggest arresting ‘tenants’ for trespassing then keeping them locked up after the background checks roll in. Protesters’ voices are as worthy as supporters of this slum.
What matters is people have no right demanding others be silenced simply because they have opposing views. Freedom of speech demands that all speech is protected, especially the ideas we don’t like. It stands to reason we wouldn’t need protection for ideas we all agree with.
