Letter to the Editor: Council not interested in governing

From the way this bylaw is written it seems clear that this current council is not interested in governing, writer says.

After reading the proposed bylaw regarding the “smart” water meters I would like to point out a few flaws in it, especially in chapter 16.1.

As a landlord I have to give a 24-hour notice before entering my own (rented) house (provincial and federal law).

Even the RCMP cannot (in no emergency situation) enter your home without a warrant (provincial and federal law).

When we go on vacation, a friend’s teenage daughters usually do house and pet sitting for us. From now on I will instruct them, that in case someone bullies himself inside the house, to call 911 and report a home invasion. Anyone can disguise themselves as a city worker, right?

So because the mayor has not heard about any lawsuits yet, does not mean they are not possible.

By the way, five minutes with a phone book can reveal an interesting fact: the mayor and councillor Kendel (almost 30 per cent of the city government) do not live within the city limits and are not supplied by the city water system, meaning no meters in their homes.

From the way this bylaw is written it seems clear that this current council is not interested in governing, but ruling the people.
