I suggest the proposed Columbia Avenue redevelopment project needs revision to eliminate the creation of a partially protected two-way bike lane on one side of theroad. This plan will narrow the roadway and slow traffic. Cyclists are channeled to one side of the street and use traffic lights to cross at the start and end of the bikelane, the bike lane has openings at every business and driveway so cyclists are exposed to traffic, and drivers must watch for cyclists in both directions simultaneouslybefore turning. The bicycle lane will be seasonal and used for snow collection, so cyclists are back on the narrowed road where it is more dangerous and vehicles willhave to go around them.
