To the editor,
God keep our land.
This Remembrance Day we will honour the thousands of souls who died in the defence of our country. The singing of our national anthem and the recitation of In Flanders Fields is a traditional element of this honour.
Our anthem asks almighty God to keep our land and we note the fallen’s place in Flanders is marked by crosses signifying the hope of the resurrection.
Our nation once called unto God to keep our land and now we have become a godless nation serving many gods. The god of ‘self’ being given the greatest honour; the god of wisdom and knowledge also taking prominence.
We have raised generations believing there is no God and as such they don’t know they were made in His image with a God-ordained purpose. Believing the cunning fables of man, we have set aside our knowledge of God. We have erred as did King Solomon by allowing other gods to be honoured through the erection of dumb idols honouring false gods and thus have polluted our great land.
This Remembrance Day we should not forget the God we used to call on as we honour the slain who died for His land.
