LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Implement term limits in local government

Not only should it be three-year terms, but only two terms in a lifetime (like the U.S. president)

To the editor,

Re: Council advances resolution about three-year terms, Sept. 14.

Not only should it be three-year terms, but only two terms in a lifetime (like the U.S. president). This would stop most conflicts of interest.

Anyone running for more than two terms for a so-called part-time ‘job’ is in conflict of interest by making it a career. They cater to special groups who in turn vote for them.

The three-year term and two terms only would result in living in the now and not what the taxpayers get from the old, stale state we have today. Running for life is in the politicians’ interest only, not the communities.
