To the editor,
Re: Crime spreading city’s emergency services thinly, Letters, Feb. 27.
Though I do feel for drug addicts and alcoholics I feel more for the general public and the many areas that have to deal with this type of thing in their neighborhoods. It ‘feels’ very dangerous to the elderly who have to fear that their homes will be broken into whether they are home or not.
I am soon 86 and so far have not had to deal with this issue but I can tell you it is very upsetting to even think one’s home could be broken into. And the children who most definitely need to be protected from these issues. I completely agree with the letter writer, particularly the last paragraph of her letter. Young people need to be taken care of but not at the expense of the elderly who have worked most of their life.
And so many even now struggle to get themselves through their final days, many needing assistance just to live. Please find a way to conquer these issues.
