LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Let’s emerge from pandemic a more equitable society

Guaranteed liveable income would help with gender equity and poverty reduction, says letter writer

To the editor,

Re: COVID-19 pandemic sparks calls for progressive federal policies, May 6.

I don’t want a return to so-called normal. Normal has been a world at war with women and nature. We have an historic opportunity to move to a sustainable, equitable society. A guaranteed annual income would go a long way to ending poverty and empowering women. It’s been amazing to see what can be done when there is the political and societal will.
