LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Park garden expenditure unjustifiable

It's yet another tax hit for the Nanaimo taxpayers, says letter writer

To the editor,

Re: Park garden goes $186K over budget, Feb. 25.

While Nanaimo Mayor Leonard Krog is obviously a happy camper about it, this bailout is not only unjustifiable considering the economic downturn in the B.C. economy and bad budgeting math, but also it’s yet another tax hit for the Nanaimo taxpayers who will yet again remain silent on it as the tax dollars are continuing to be frivolously misused on boondoggle money-pit projects.

I am reminded of the golden rule that one must always live within one’s means; however, for the city councillors, this still continues to fall on deaf ears as they continue to spend on, with champagne dreams and caviar tastes.
