LETTER TO THE EDITOR: Planet’s destruction has to be reversed

Only a fool or an idiot would prefer to live in an unhealthy dying world, says letter writer

To the editor,

I personally don’t care if it’s Justin Trudeau or the Queen of Sheba telling me that it’s in the best interest of our country to stay on a self-destructive course to destroy our planet rather than on a course to reverse this insanity before it’s too late.

I think a person would have to be a fool or an idiot to prefer to live in an unhealthy dying world instead of a clean healthy environment that would never die. Don’t be fooled that it’s the oil companies’ money that cleans up these messes; it’s all paid for by us, the consumer, the minute we stick a gasoline nozzle into our gas tanks.

Look around, you don’t have to be a genius to figure out what is happening to our planet, what with all the destructive climatic changes happening around us with increasing devastation yearly.

Be assured that all the promises they make about cleaning up their own messes is only meant for the gullible. I can’t speak for the rest of you, but common sense tells me that time is running out for us if we have any hope left to reverse this insanity.

John A. Martin, Nanaimo
