To the editor,
The advocates of banning ‘single-use’ plastic bags are not dealing with full truth, just short-sighted emotion. Sounds like they’ll save the world’s oceans banning the shopping bags at the till. Oh so rosy.
What plastic bags fall into the ‘single-use’ category? What about those of us who use them as garbage bags? That’s not single-use, it’s double-use. But all the veggie bags on rolls are single-use; ban them. Sandwich bags, bread bags, potato and apple bags, single-use; ban them.
If there are no bags at the till, I’ll buy single-use garbage bags made of plastic. Or ban them, too.
