Letter: Township’s handling of sports field access appreciated

Editor: The following is an open letter to the mayor of the Township of Langley.

Mr. Mayor: I’m writing you in regards to the controversy regarding public access to the facilities at Willoughby Community Park, AKA Langley Events Centre.

There have been many rumours circulating in our community regarding the effect of moving a professional sports team into Langley.

Many people have speculated that access to other facilities at LEC would be cut off while Giants games were taking place. Recently, those speculators were proven dead wrong.

I was incredibly grateful for the efforts put in by the TOL Parks Team, led by Peter Tulumello  and Al Nuefeld. Their hard work and leadership proved that youth and professional sports both have a home in the Township of Langley.

Too often the only feedback we receive is negative or controversial, so I didn’t want this win to go by without  recognizing it. As a resident, a coach and a father of two children involved in youth sports, I can’t thank you and your team enough for making youth sports a priority in Langley.
