Editor: I have a book entitled “The Epic of Vimy,” which is the story of the pilgrimage to the Vimy Memorial in 1936, for the unveiling ceremonies.
There is a picture in the book of the fly-past, as mentioned in Dan Ferguson’s article (A war hero in the family, the Times, March 29).
Following the fly-past was the unveiling of the figure, standing with head bowed, dipicting Canada weeping for her fallen sons. On the wall of the monument is inscribed the names of 11,285 Canadian soldiers who have no known graves.
Lest we forget.
