LETTER: Water exercises and concerts create a scheduling conflict

A big thank you to the staff and lifeguards at the Summerland Aquatic and Fitness Centre on May 7 for health day at the pool.

Dear Editor:

A big thank you to the staff and lifeguards at the Summerland Aquatic and Fitness Centre on May 7 for health day at the pool.

Free classes were offered in yoga, aqua zumba, fitness class, pleasure swim. I did attend the swim; it was very good.

A big thank you again to the staff at the Aquatic and Fitness Centre for a very well run Action Festival. All the sports participants were very happy and enjoyed challenging their own records.

The music in the park during Action Festival was a lot of fun and very toe tapping. Thanks to all the musicians.

I was blessed with a broken leg which turned into me learning to swim. It is very good exercise for the whole body.

A number of us exercising were hoping for some water exercises programs during July and August. There is zumba water exercise starting July 6 from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. However, it clashes with the concerts at Peach Orchard Beach beginning July 6 and running every Wednesday until end of August.

Summerland is a small beautiful community and many of us who exercise in the water feel that these zumba water exercises could be held on a different evening, and it is evening that we desire.

The concerts at Peach Orchard Beach were already announced last year and a number of people have cleared schedules to attend these concerts.

So here we are with a conflict of two very much wanted events on the same night. Many people in Summerland have a sleep disorder and to be able to attend concerts or exercise programs or movies in the park in the evenings is very much appreciated.
