Dear Editors,
What the heck is going on with gasoline prices?
Over the past couple of weeks, out here in Abbotsford, gas prices have been slowly dropping by one or two cents per litre every day or two. Yesterday morning (Tuesday, Sept. 1, 2015), around Abbotsford gas was at $1.06.9 per litre, but by 1400h the price had skyrocketed by nine cents to $1.15.9 per litre.
What gives? What the heck is going on? Why is this not big news?
We are in the middle of an election campaign, yet there seems to be a conspiracy of silence about this issue by all the parties and their candidates, and what is worse is that the media is letting them get away with it.
The economy is allegedly a major campaign issue, and what voters and the transportation industry have to pay for gas is certainly a major part of their necessary expenditures. Canadian drivers and related industries are getting hosed by the oil industry, yet none of our politicians have the backbone to take them to task and say “Enough is enough.”
How much longer are we going to be “Good polite Canadian sheep” and continue to take this abuse by “Big Oil” before we stand up and take action to stop this abuse?
Sincerely yours,
Alex Boivin
