Letter: Why not use 192nd Street instead of 216th?

A Langley letter writer points out the advantages to using 192nd Street as a truck route.

Dear Editor,

I was unable to attend the transportation open house on June 19. But reading the article today, I’m truly disappointed to hear that the message from the opposing party to the TOL got lost in its poor delivery.

What is the agenda of having 216th a truck route? What I have not heard talked about is why 192nd isn’t used to allow trucks through as an alternative.

Opening up 192nd would have many benefits. It would alleviate some truck traffic off 200th Street. It’s a direct route for the trucking industry into the industrial centre of Port Kells. There is easy access to both the Golden Ears Bridge and Hwy. 17. And its access point is through an industrial area.

This alternative would keep trucks from disturbing a quite, residential community and going through two school zones unnecessarily.

Change and growth is a great thing. But with all great changes, they must be done wisely.
