To the editor:
It seems like a no-brainer, but I guess common sense shouldn’t be taken for granted.
The money spent on the Wine Route along Boucherie Road in West Kelowna, was done to mixed reviews and took a considerable period of time.
It really doesn’t matter now which side of the spending debate the constituents were on, the road is a fact.
What isn’t a fact is signage to direct motorists to the many wineries the route was beautified to highlight.
About three months after the route itself was completed at the north end, I contacted the District of West Kelowna as well as many of the various wineries concerned, asking when the signage would be changed from directing people along Hudson Road.
The answers were rather vague but timing, cost and communication to the appropriate department of highways was cited.
Well, that was many months ago now, and the old ‘Way Finding Signage’ is still in place.
How hard can it be? As far as I’m concerned, the job isn’t done until the directional signage is in place. It really is key to ensuring the Wine Route is used, justifying the investment.
Perhaps some motivated district official, or whomever has this duty in their job description, will see this letter and follow through to see the job properly finished.
