Our federal government is fond of designating roadways as “highway of heroes” to honour our veterans.
It’s a shame that the highway goes nowhere when it comes to designating real benefits for our veterans.
The Harper government’s treatment of veterans has gone beyond just being shameful. It is now approaching being mean-spirited and vindictive. Not surprising that individual veterans and veterans groups have had to turn to the courts to get access to the benefits they should be entitled to.
Now we find out that funds within the Ministry of Veterans Affairs allocated for veterans’ health issues have not been spent.
When are we going to say enough is enough? If our government is determined to send them into combat, then they have a moral obligation to deal with the impact on veterans and their families.
