Re: Divergent leadership, Feb. 17 letters.

I just want to say how much I appreciate seeing the letter that was written by L. Young, White Rock.

There was little or no respect for our past prime minister Stephen Harper. Even if you didn’t like him he was our prime minister. As he himself said, “I am not perfect.”

I don’t care for our new one. He doesn’t seem to have any authority and is not interesting in doing the important issues of Canada’s security in light of the violence in Europe and the Middle East. Our economy is an important issue. He probably doesn’t realize as he was a kindergarten teacher. He was born into wealth and doesn’t understand poverty.

We should wish good wishes for our former PM and his family. I believe he is a good dad and husband and has good values and he was a statesman in my eyes.

Justin Trudeau will never be one.

G.J.W. Smith, White Rock
