LETTERS: Beware of bike thieves

Plans for a bike trip across Penticton dashed by bike thieves.

My plans to enjoy a leisurely bike trip across our fair city of Penticton to make a special purchase at Wal Mart for a shut-in legally blind senior were suddenly dashed by a bunch of cowardly organized thieves who helped themselves to my coveted burgundy mountain bike outside of the Care Closet.

This bike gave me 20 years of reliable service.  I called it my “Cadillac” as it had all the bells and whistles of the day.  It had two large saddlebags for my groceries, and had given me hundreds of hours of pleasure riding.

I tried to chase him down the alley when another customer had pointed out the fresh tire marks on the side of the building, but he seemed to disappear into a house near the 24-7 convenience store by the Shatford Centre.

The police could not enter without a search warrant. I have been living on a disability pension for over 25 years, so this has affected me not only sentimentally but financially.

Thanks guys for making my Mother’s Day such a pleasant one.
