Penticton Western News Letters to the Editor.

It’s Monday morning at the Care Closet and the snow has once again made getting around difficult, but already there are three boxes of donations just inside the front door.

More keep arriving as the morning continues. The volunteer staff in the sorting room have their hands full.

The donations are all clean clothing including winter coats, hats, scarves, boots, well cared for small appliances and household items. It’s hard to imagine the variety of items we receive. As a Thrift Store we are so very grateful for all the donors. They come from all over the South Okanagan. Donations come in plastic bags, large and small, cardboard boxes and by hand.

We take small appliances in working order, kitchen, bathroom, garden items, tools of all sorts, and lots and lots of books. In July, we may receive Christmas items, in January summer clothes, in March Halloween costumes. Whenever things are given we are pleased you have chosen to support Penticton Regional Hospital. Our volunteers and staff sort, separate and keep aside the special holiday or event items to sell closer to the occasion.

Thank you to all who donate to our store. Last year we raised over $185,000 which was donated to the three partner groups — the medical foundation, the Penticton & District Hospice Society and the Hospital Auxiliary. All our funds contribute to aid Penticton Regional Hospital.

To our donors, thank you. Please keep sending any unneeded items to the Care Closet, 574 Main St. between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Monday to Saturday.
