Letters: Cats need help

Local organization seeking space to house unwanted cats

We are writing this letter to ask Sooke residents to call us when they want to know about our society’s policies and regulations.Last week, we had a cat owner knocking in our door yelling and threatening us because somebody in Sooke said to her that we steal cats from people’s yards. After this person left another person came along with another no sense gossip. The rumor this time was that the owner of the barn had evicted us because we had couches in there, we were apparently living in the barn.

First, all the cats under our care have been surrendered to us by someone who knows the animal has been abandoned. Every cat under our care comes with a letter signed by the angel who saved it.

Second, it is real cruel to gossip about our eviction from the barn. After 18 months of hard work, just when we had completed our renovations to give the cats a temporary home.

We saved 120 felines this year and we are successfully finding homes for all of them. Yes, we have couches, those who visit, tame and adopt the cats need them. It is not possible to live in the freezing barn with no hydro or water.

We are doing what we can to survive and we pay for vet bills, food, gas, improvements, and other necessities with little donations or from our own pockets.

Please, stop kicking us; we are already on the ground. We have nowhere to take these poor animals and the winter is already here.

Please, come help us with the cats, help us find another place where to take them, help us find a lawyer.
