LETTERS: Dealing with a dog attack

Editor: Just south of Crescent Beach, my small dog was attacked by an off-leash black lab.

On Monday, Sept. 17, just south of Crescent Beach, my small dog was attacked by an off-leash short-haired black lab.

The owner of the lab, a young woman in her early-20s, did not give any information because of the speed of the event – I thought my little Basil was dead and asked her to please just leave us.

I was able to get Basil to the specialty veterinary clinic in Langley after he was stabilized by the vets in Ocean Park, and we hope he will survive after some miraculous work. He is still in critical condition but getting stronger.

The event happened at about noon, and I think the young woman was horrified by her dog almost killing my little guy, and would want to do the honourable thing and pay for the veterinary treatment. Any help finding her and preventing another incident would be appreciated.
