LETTERS: Dismayed by comment

I was dismayed at the response of a commenter online to the poverty simulation here being cancelled.

I was dismayed at the response of a commenter online to the poverty simulation here being cancelled.

This person obviously didn’t know what the simulation was about before writing their comment. I attended the one in Kelowna and was amazed at the educational value of the program. It changed many views I had held about the reasons for poverty and for the ways to alleviate it.

We were there to try and understand what it takes to live under very trying circumstances in today’s society.  Those who bash it are doing a disservice to those of us who attended, the organizers, The United Way and anyone trying to help someone out of poverty.  No one was there to “mimic” as some put it, quite the opposite in fact.
