Re: Fentanyl claims life of Williams Lake man (Friday, Oct. 28 Tribune/Weekend Advisor).

When I first came to high school in Williams Lake halfway through Grade 10, I was very much an awkward nerd who didn’t know too many people at the school.

Damon, however, was in a similar situation and we became fast friends. He was the coolest but also the most misunderstood person I knew.

He was an excellent musician (and mathematician as I recall). We spent many hours hanging out after school talking about our favourite metal music, video games, and just anything that interested our 15 year old minds.

I didn’t see much of him after Grade 10, but we ran into each other from time to time over the years and it was always fun to catch up.

I know on a personal level that this is, and forever will be, a tragic loss to the community. My sympathies to the family.
