I am a retired person who gets frustrated when being taken advantaged of.
My wife and I parked downtown Vancouver Jan. 1 to see a performance at the Orpheum. We had a parking sign that said $15 regular/$7.50 “Sat, Sun & Holidays.”
New Year’s Day should be a holiday. I assumed the meter would charge us $7.50 – nope $15.
On the first business day after the holidays, I attempted to speak to a representative of the parking lot. Of course, no one answers a call and I am directed to correspond by email.
I can do that. I have pictures of receipts to prove my position. I have pictures of the lot number and the rates. I asked for a correction.
The parking authority claimed their meter was not updated to reflect what their sign said: “Sorry. Send a copy of your receipt.”
Did that. I have been back and forth many times – the $7.50 is now not an issue. Now, they sent me a picture of a sign that says “Saturday and Sunday” that would disqualify my request. I sent them back a picture of the lot’s sign that shows “Sat, Sun & Holidays” – I do qualify.
How many of our out-of-town guests or senior citizens just eat the “error” and make the parking authority enhance their revenue?
