Re: Might be eco issues at play here, Feb. 11 letters.

In response to Stacey Marton’s letter that asks what if the Semiahmoo First Nation is actually stalling on the Little Campbell train trestle in order to assist those trying to protect our environment.

This would not be out of character for First Nations people. It is who they are. It is their spirituality, their religious belief, that they were placed on this earth as protectors of the earth and all that the Creator has placed here.

If we had any sense at all, we would be doing everything we can to help them preserve their culture.

To quote Chief Dan George, “We are as much alive as we keep the earth alive.”
