As a participating artist, I wish to comment on the amazing success of the20th annual Lake Country ArtWalk.
Thousands of people attended ArtWalk, and enjoyed the diversity of original art works of over 300 artists, experienced the phenomenal entertainment, viewed the unique quilt show, and observed art in the making.
It was wonderful to have met so many of the supportive people who attend this event and live in Lake Country, and observe entire families taking pleasure in the many different aspects of the arts.
I was surprised at the vast distance people travelled to attend ArtWalk—from Edmonton, Calgary, and Vancouver. There was also a big turn out from Kelowna, West Kelowna, Penticton, Vernon, Oliver, Osoyoos, Salmon Art, Summerland and Peachland.
As a participating artist it was exciting to mix and mingle with so many talented artists at the reception on Saturday evening, and hear their personal praises and tributes describing Sharon McCoubrey and the dedicated, friendly, ArtWalk committee members.
This event was also great for the business community. We stayed at the Super 8 motel, visited the Lake Country Art Gallery and enjoyed coffee and goodies at the Lake Country Coffee House. Most artists took advantage of the local accommodation, shops and restaurants.
Without a doubt this was the very best art show due to the warm welcome from the community, the outstanding number of people in attendance, and the exceptional camaraderie between art volunteers and artists.
We are now really looking forward to being a part of ArtWalk 2014.
