Re: White Rock tackles backyard hen proposal, Feb. 18
I was surprised to read that White Rock is possibly considering a backyard chicken policy. The article only presents a positive argument without adding the obvious cons of attracting rats.
Chickens are notoriously messy eaters, spreading feed around any area in which they are kept. This messy action is a magnet for rats.
It is impossible to keep a chicken yard pristine and food sources away from rats that can chew through almost anything.
Want chickens? Think rats. They go hand in hand!
