I write concerning the vitriolic out burst of bad manners exhibited by Madame Phillip during debate on a District of Sooke council motion to not enter into a service agreement with the Sooke Region Tourism Association (SRTA) on April 22, 2013.
It is not my intention to get into the issue, either pro or con but to simply point out that rarely, if ever, do we witness such a display of rude obnoxious and vitriolic behaviour from someone, who self claims to be a pillar of the community, in a public forum.
Did she forget that not only is she the co-owner of a well-known business but she is also a member of SRTA and Chair of the Sooke Chamber of Commerce and in respect to the last two entities, she did incalculable harm to their objectives and image as well as to her own business
She should mitigate that by resigning as Chair of the Chamber.
Provincial records indicate Councillor Tait is listed as a Director of SRTA so it is puzzling as to why she was in chambers and engaging in debate. Surely she should have declared a potential conflict and excused herself from council chambers.
