I just read the article in the Penticton Western News — Parents plea to Okanagan Skaha School District, Nov. 18. I would just like to add my voice to the conversation.
I am watching the current proceedings closely because I have one son who will be starting kindergarten next school year. I have looked at the options and participated in the two surveys on the website.
As a former high school science and math teacher, I know the challenges of keeping schools functioning with tight budgets. Difficult decisions have to be made.
I would like to let the school district decision-makers know that I am one parent who supports any decisions that have to be made regarding closing elementary schools. Sometimes this might be the only option. And in my mind, that’s OK.
I don’t want to have my son take the bus to and from school, but I do want him to have a quality education in a safe and sound building. Children adapt to the challenges that are presented to them, as should we.
