Re: White Rock mom focusing on Lyme awareness, April 17.

It is with gratitude that I write to you on behalf of Vancouver Lyme Awareness.

We are a group of people with Lyme disease who wish to be heard by our government and to spread awareness to communities about the epidemic of vector-borne illness.

Thank you for writing this and other articles about those afflicted with Lyme in this community, including Louise Roderick, Joyce Frydenlund-Collicut, Jane Frasca, Linda Steel and myself (A patient’s struggle, Aug. 29; Reliving their pain to shed light on Lyme, Nov. 12).

Those suffering from Lyme disease and their families appreciate the support we have received through your articles and Peace Arch News, as this epidemic continues to spread throughout White Rock and all B.C. communities.

I have spoken to many families with members afflicted by this disease after each newspaper article and have been able to connect them to resources and support.

You are helping us to save lives.

Karen Marchand, Vancouver Lyme Awareness
