I read the letter from J. Chandler regarding the handicapped-parking issue, and I must respond.

I feel horrible that she had to go through that. I experienced so much of this in the community when my parents were alive. I found that many times when driving them to the stores, appointments or social events, that many of the parking spaces are reserved for parents with children or pregnant mothers.

I am a registered nurse and never remember being taught that pregnancy and/or having children was a health issue that required extra exceptions or precautions for proximity to stores/services.

Why not free up those spaces for the truly handicapped?
