LETTERS: Sounds of compensation

Why are the RCMP in White Rock and Surrey passing up the opportunity to earn thousands of dollars?

A recent B.C. court ruling stated that officers do not need a decibel meter to fine vehicles for up to $109 for excessive noise.

Our apartment is near North Bluff Road and Martin Street, and every day in the summer time there must be dozens and dozens of motorcycles, pickups and other tricked-out hot rods making this huge racket. The noise level is actually remarkable and very disturbing.

As a former motorcycle rider myself, I never felt the need to wake up or alert everyone within five blocks each time I accelerated. Perhaps these individuals are compensating for other shortcomings, but in the meantime our police forces could be collecting big bucks simply by standing at various street corners. I’d be happy to help out.
