LETTERS: Surrounded by survivors

In White Rock, 60 years ago, there were large farms with lots of land. The fields were dotted with a great many wild little brown bunnies.

Though wary of predators, they munched away, enjoying the large expanses of green grass and little patches of sweet clover. Nowadays, there is traffic as well as predators for them to be watchful of, but years ago, there were far more predators for these cute little critters to be wary of.

There are far fewer bunnies these days, but I am grateful that they have survived. When I ride down the sidewalk on my scooter, I sometimes see one of them in a condo garden. It freezes when it sees me, but when I stop to watch it, somehow it knows that I am not a threat and continues to munch and fill its tummy.

We are survivors nowadays, too. Survivors of a terrible pandemic and survivors of loneliness.

My hope is that you, too, will find some peace and happiness in nature like I do when I see a wild little brown bunny.
