My friend and I were returning on transit from the Bard on the Beach evening performance in Vancouver. On arrival at Bridgeport Station via the Canada Line, we just missed the 351, 11 p.m. bus to South Surrey, forcing us to sit and wait one hour for the next bus.
My companion and I are both women and seniors. There were other seniors waiting with us that had attended Bard on the Beach and Theatre Under the Stars.
With all the different events going on in Vancouver I find it unacceptable to be forced to wait an hour, late at night for your connection. When the bus did arrive close to midnight there were many folks forced to stand.
We are trying to change our habits and use transit rather than the usual mode of transportation, our car. This unfortunate experience does not support us using transit in future.
Our community is growing and it would have been very upsetting if the bus was forced to leave some behind because of over crowding. I believe the need warrants another bus being added, particularly in summer when people are out enjoying our beautiful city and all it has to offer as well as being in the height of the tourist season.
I hope this will be a consideration when planning future resources.
