Editor, The News:
I was a passenger in a vehicle picking up children from Webster’s Corners and Garibaldi schools last week.
After sitting on the side of Dewdney Trunk Road and watching the number of bikers and pedestrians using that stretch, I wondered if our council could possibly explain why several million dollars can be spent on Abernethy Way and Lougheed Highway on bike and pedestrian paths to and from nowhere, when there are more children in one afternoon using DTR than there are in a week on either bike path?
The children from Webster’s Corners, Blue Mountain and Garibaldi schools have the protection of a painted white line and a few inches of pavement, gravel and lawn.
Is this because it is east Maple Ridge or just plain ignorance?
