Re: Reaction mixed for liquor store in Departure Bay, Jan. 23.
I am truly amazed at this Nanaimo businessman who believes that his proposed liquor store will magically enhance Departure Bay and in turn would mean progress.
Well give me a break here because his so-called vision is dead wrong and way off-base. This liquor store will only become an attractive nuisance causing multitude problems from illegal activity to social problems to which in turn will require extra RCMP involvement, which in turn will cost the taxpayers even more of their money.
It also will lower the property value of homeowners of Departure Bay by having yet another booze barn in Nanaimo where there are already too many of them.
Finally, a post office would be ideal for this particular location.
