BC teachers are being ridiculed for seeking a pay raise and improvements to their laughably inadequate benefit scheme. Don’t they understand we are in the middle of an economic crisis?
Yet BC Hydro can spend $1 billion of our hard earned taxes to install so-called smart meters. BC Hydro state that this will generate $525 million in savings over the next 20 years, $25 million per year, an annual return on investment of 0.025 per cent. So there is $1 billion for the company that makes smart meters, and nothing for the hard working citizens.
No wonder teachers are taking job action.
