Longtime Latoria Road residents put up with disruptions for others

Langford and Colwood neighbourhood sees radical changes, reader writes

Take a drive down Latoria Road sometime and see the neighbourhood. This is what developers call progress.

Otherwise known as “advantageous money-making schemes” regardless of the long-term homeowners’ right to peace? Progressive development in Langford and Colwood. Imagine our neighbourhood … sewer systems, logging, blasting, excavators, rude employees, rocks all over the road.  Drive by and imagine the noise that starts at 7 a.m. Monday through Saturday.

Langford developers buy up the acreage, present their scheme, make those dollar signs sing in the ears of the mayor and there you have it, progress. I would love to move the projects to their neighbourhood. You know, just share the experience. It might be fun just to see their response, but that would never happen to them. They don’t live on Latoria Road, the new happening place.

Make sure to drive 70 kilometres an hour down our 50 km/h street and look amazed at the growth.

Think about the people who live here … what would it be like to be us? The people who lived through the dust, noise, blasting, trucks and rocks for years so you can buy your comfortable shack in Langford town? We are very nice people here on Latoria Drive. We put up with all of this so you could be my neighbour.

Just a thought that perhaps someone out there would just be grateful for what we have to put up with so you can buy your nice, clean, tidy quiet piece of paradise.
