As the American election draws toward its conclusion, one picture has clearly emerged.
In the Trump/Clinton contest, except for the Fox Network and a few broadcasters such as Rush Limbaugh, it is Donald Trump against virtually the entire world of conventional media while Hillary Clinton has yet to face anything resembling the same level of scrutiny regarding her many apparent negatives.
I believe there is a totally rational explanation for this evident bias.
Politics in the U.S., Canada and many other western nations has evolved into a system where governments now dictate the disposition of immense sums of money and have also taken on the responsibility to regulate society via an ever-widening network of laws, regulations and dictates.
As a result of these undeniable trends, immense wealth and power has become concentrated in capital cities being run by those closest to government power. This method of government has also spawned growing numbers of highly paid attorneys, lobbyists and bureaucratic managers from all major parties who have grown rich and powerful through the distribution of government wealth and political influence.
Perhaps no two families represent this “spoils system” better than the Democratic Clintons and the Republican Bushes — each of whom has seen their fortunes improve in dramatic manners thanks to government largesse.
The essence of the American contest is that Trump is a threat to this spoils system and therefore, all the powerful forces which have benefited from the present concentration of money and political power are allied to an almost hysterical level to bring Trump down at all costs. This cabal includes much of the media who have benefited substantially from their close ties to the prevailing political system. What other unifying force could have brought the Obamas, Clintons, Bushes and Ryans together?
It is that simple.
