As a concerned citizen of Qualicum I am disgusted by recent ads and flyers discrediting three members of our current council.
Bill Luchtmeijer, Mary Brouilette and Dave Willie were elected by the majority to represent the citizens.
The purpose of four councillors and one mayor is to bring forward ideas and encourage discussion. A majority vote has always ruled the decision making process. Suddenly, when the mayor isn’t part of the majority the system is flawed.
As this term ends, Qualicum remains a fantastic place to live. The development that has happened has been beautiful.
Sage Manor and Village Gate Mews on Second Avenue reflect the quaint feel of the town. West Ridge Place near the elementary school is inviting to families, the carriage homes allow affordable rentals.
The Qualicum Beach Inn is a welcome addition we should all be proud of. All are developments voted in by the council that had the majority of Luchtmeijer, Brouilette and Willie. Is this the harm that these three councillors have wrought?
I am a concerned citizen and I would like to know who these so called “concerned citizens of Qualicum Beach” are. How many members are in this “non-partisan” group? What is their mandate and agenda? Do they live next door to the Pheasant Glen site that is under discussion? Is this a case of ‘not in my backyard’? Their “facts“ sound more like opinions to me.
I would like to know why they think non Qualicum Beach residents like candidates Dolores Fraser and Len Mustard are better equipped to spend our tax dollars?
I would like to know what they mean when they ask for a team of five not a gang of three? It appears the odd man out was normally our mayor. If a councillor doesn’t agree with the mayor, are they the ones who are wrong?
Who has funded this expensive attack? Why have they not given their names?
I am a very concerned citizen of Qualicum Beach and I hope that other concerned citizens will not be swayed by this blatant attack.
I am a concerned citizen and I will be voting for Luchtmeijer, Brouilette, Willie and mayoral candidate Denyse Widdifield. I want a council who get along. I want a change and I’m not afraid to sign my name.
