Re: Support Manna (letters to the Editor Dec.15th.)
Like Judy Wood , I too support the Manna Society. On a recent Saturday, my friend and I took a large donation of new and almost-new clothing including heavy duty rain gear, tarps, jackets, hats and boots.
After going back to our car we were shocked to see at least two cars drive up , each with 2 or 3 people in them who prceeded to go through the donated bags and boxes, helping themselves and then driving off again.
While I realize there are needy out there in addition to the homeless, the donations we took were specific for someone living outdoors.
Therefore I feel that the Manna Society should ask what the donation is before simply placing it on the sidewalk, then hopefully it could be set aside to be given to the homeless in most need.
We were both disheartened seeing someone in a car take from someone in much more need than they were.
