A short month with lots to do
Well, here we are in the middle of February with Valentine’s Day just around the corner on Monday. I wonder about the current significance of this day. I asked the question in the office and was told that it’s not just about boyfriend/girlfriend, husband and wife; it’s about different kinds of ‘love’. School children are given class lists and required to do Valentines for each member. I would think this would give each child the opportunity to think about the strengths of other individuals, in other words, look for the good to emphasize. This is a much better system than what went on in my day; some children only got two or three cards then.
For many parents it’s a day to express their love for their children in a different way. There are those that find it hard to express their feelings but a special card might do the trick.

If you are involved with a group or organization that would like to use recreation fields in the District of Invermere you need to fill in an application. These forms need to be submitted at least 30 days prior to the beginning of your season or event. While we’re on this topic don’t forget that all special events that take place in a District of Invermere space require a special event authorization too.

Have a family Valentine’s dinner on Tuesday February 15 at the Eddie Mountain Memorial Arena. The Pee Wee hockey players are fundraising and you can get a great spaghetti meal for just $20 for the whole family.
Make sure your calendars are marked for Saturday February 19 so you don’t miss Winterfest in Radium. There are lots of fun events happening throughout the day and a dance in the evening.
The Columbia Valley Rockies’ final home game of the season is on Saturday February 12 when the Grand Forks Border Bruins come to town. Come out and support our players as they wind up their season.
