Masks not mandatory for those under 12

Just so you know…

It seems that many businesses and individuals are not aware yet of the change that was made back in November regarding the age exemption for mandatory masks in indoor public places and retail stores. It was raised from under two to under 12.

I have noticed that some businesses have adjusted their signs to say that masks are mandatory for ages 12 and over and recommended for under 12, but there are still many who haven’t. I assume that most of these businesses were not aware of the change in the public health order, and would be happy to adjust their requirements for entry.

Let’s not add undue mandates for children in this season of their lives. The province has made an exemption for a reason and we should support it. It has been a very long haul for children and we all need to be supportive of their mental and emotional health and development.
